Search visibility

Whether a search engine can reach a page, index it, and work out what it is a result for. One of the four readings behind a visibility temperature.
This reading covers the signals that decide whether a page is eligible to rank for anything at all: indexing directives, crawler permissions, title and description, canonical declaration, heading structure, internal links, a published sitemap, and page-level structured data.
None of it is about competition. It is about being in the running.
Search Visibility is the reading most often already fine, and the one where failures are most embarrassing when they are not. A noindex left over from a staging environment and a site-wide Disallow are not strategy problems. They are switches in the wrong position, and they are worth checking before anyone is paid to think about anything.
