Whether an AI answer engine can retrieve a page and lift a usable answer out of it. One of the four readings behind a visibility temperature.
This reading covers AI crawler permissions, whether the content arrives in the raw HTML rather than being assembled in the browser, whether there is a self-contained answer near the top of the page, whether the page publishes an llms.txt, whether it carries question and answer markup, and whether it has any machine-readable structure at all.
This is the reading that has moved fastest since 2023 and the one most sites have never looked at. A careful build from 2019 routinely reads in the eighties for search and the forties here, because nothing it did wrong was wrong when it was built.
It is also the reading where a single line in robots.txt can cost 16 of the available points, which is a rare case of one decision mattering more than everything else in the category combined.
